A Picnic in the Park with Andrew Bird

on wednesday we had the privilege of seeing andrew bird-one of my favorite musicians and chicago native-play the jay pritzker pavilion in millennium park (downtown chicago). this is an open air theater and every year they put on a series of free shows every night for 5 days-and this show was one of them! the theater is so completely rad with stadium seating in front and a huge lawn that i would guess is the size of a football field (but again, what do i know?-i hate football and can't remember the last time i was near a field of the football variety). so i packed a picnic for adam and i we parked it on the lawn right in front. the show was marvelous, the sound was fantastic and the weather couldn't have been more perfect (overcast, slight breeze, no bugs!). if you are unfamiliar with andrew bird, he's definitely worth checking out. he plays the violin and guitar and manages to create these amazing loops and layers and narratives. oh and he's a truly gifted whistler to boot. there was video to accompany a lot of the music with huge screens, so it was easy to see him and the rest of the band. awesome!

post-picnic snack nap.

*sigh*...this was so great

this weekend has been pretty low key--i got to hang out with my brother and new sister-in-law, danielle. so fun to see these guys :) they both live in the burbs and are extremely busy (ryan is a massage therapist and danielle is an ER nurse) so i was glad to have them all to myself for a night and part of  a day. danielle and i did a little shopping---and what did i get you ask? why, a sweet sweet grocery basket on wheels for $5...total SCORE! oh yes, now im ready to get my grocery shop on in the city.

danielle and tucker. xoxo
